Berfet o ideas - bottom set yr 9 non-doers...

    We've done newspaper, apprentice, superhero, film, euro 2012, olympics, eurovision and still have 5 lessons left..any ideas - they are a really difficult groups of students and we are pulling our hair out...

    Try the helicopters unit on languagesatnorthgate - on the miniclil page.
    A good tip for the first pages is not to work through activity by activity but to set them to get the first 4 pages done in any order so that they can then use the answers in the Million Pound drop game. Otherwise, while you're trying to get them to do the maths bit, they are busy labelling the parts of the helicopter!
    Unit is 3 lessons:
    1. The tests to get onto French police helicopter pilot training + the Money Drop game (this could be start of lesson 20
    2. You tube videos of French teenagers making paper helicopters. Download this using real player (check your settings are set to download videos on request). Find keywords in the transcript. Correct their French (videos have subtitles full of errors).
    3. Follow instructions to make and fly helicopter.
