Bath University Middle Years English PGCE Interview help

Discussion in 'Thinking of teaching' started by GobbyLittleMare, Apr 20, 2011.

  1. What you really need to do is get experience and some real teacher understanding of things like the English bac, the new exam board syllabi, controlled assessments and issues in things like behaviour and child-protection.
The most important thing I was asked in my PGCE interview was:
    "What do you do if...?"
    I gave a sensible solution.
"Ok, but then what would you do if...?"
    I gave another sensible solution.
    "Good, but then what if...?"
    Yet another sensible solution.
"That's excellent, but then what if...?"
To which I said, "I don't know the answer to that, but the school would have some kind of system in place to help me in that situation."
Which he said was the best possible answer.
Don't pretend to know all the answers - but know how to get them.
  2. Thank you...for both of those answers. I am researching the educational changes made or being made by the coalition government as I know there's been some controversy there, and I will continue to hunt down topics in the limelight at the moment that might come up. Thanks guys, and good luck with your careers!
