Bath Spa Primary PGCE 2012

Discussion in 'Thinking of teaching' started by lj87, Mar 11, 2012.

  1. Hello,
I will be starting on the General Primary PGCE at Bath Spa in September and am a bit unsure about what to do accomodation wise. Is anyone else looking for a flat/house share? Where are you thinking of living?

  3. Hi Laura,
I'm also starting the Primary PGCE (5 - 11) in September. I'm going to be moving from Cambridge, but haven't started thinking about accommodation yet! (also depends if my partner can move as well). I've had a look around and have stumbled across one estate agent - Roman City Lettings I think it was called - which specialises in student accommodation for 9months. Might be worth a look? Also, quite a few of the ones on rightmove etc. will accept mature/postgraduate students. My plan at the moment is to live in the centre of Bath - easy to commute from I'm thinking!
    Hope that helps somewhat,
  4. Hey guys,
I'm also starting on the general primary at Bath in September! I'm so excited! I haven't really started to look at accommodation either. My main aim is to make sure I don't share with undergrads - I've had enough of student living!! I was planning on searching on websites like findaroommate.com. However I do think I will look as close to Bath city centre as possible to make it easier for transport! Do you have any ideas?
  5. Hi Annie,
Thank you for the info, I will have a look at that estate agent. I also want to live in the centre of Bath - hopefully it will be easy to find somewhere nearer the time!
  6. Hi Laura,
I am currently living in Madrid, so I think it will be quite difficult for me to get somewhere sorted! I will be looking to live in the centre of Bath as well. It would be great to live with a group of PGCE students as then we will all be in the same boat!
  7. I'm on the PGCE 5-11 2012-2013 and currently looking into lodging options too..... I have had a look on spareroom.co.uk. Also don't want to share with undergraduates. Not sure where to base myself though as they said they would look at your location re your placements. Therefore looking at Bristol as an option. Also suspect it would be cheaper...?
  8. Yes, sounds great! Let us know when you have made the group!
  9. I live in Bristol, and will be staying here and commuting when I start the course (also Primary 5-11). If you go for South Bristol it's really not that far to commute (I'd say 20-25 mins by car) and that would be the cheaper part of town too. Pretty sure the centre of Bristol will be almost as expensive as Bath though. :)
  10. Hey Annie,
Did you manage to set up the Facebook group? I can't find it if you did... [IMG]
    Any more thoughts on accommodation?
  11. Hi Laura,
Just getting around to it! Only problem so far is that to make a page you must add members straight away. Thinking of making a page instead but need to work out how!
  12. Hey!

I'm also on the PGCE general primary along with a friend of mine from home who has got on to the Early Years route. We have found a house in Oldfield Park and have secured 2 bedrooms but there are another 3 up for grabs if anyone is interesting in living with other postgraduates? There is also a Bath Uni student who currently lives in the house who will be staying on.
If anyone is interested feel free to message me for further details!

  13. Hi All,
Finally made the Facebook group! Sorry for taking so long. Search for Bath Spa Primary PGCE 2012-2013 and you'll find me there :)
  14. Hi Annie,
Any chance you could post a link as nothing comes up for 2012-13 when I searched for it.
  15. Oh ignore that, just found it!!
  16. Hey, i have just found this forum from a message on another forum here. I am also starting to think about accommodation in september as I am moving from Cardiff and definitely agree that living with other PGCE students on the course would be the best option! x
  17. Hey! I'm moving from Cardiff too!! There is a facebook group called Bath Spa Primary PGCE 2012-2013 which a few of us have joined if you're interested.
