Basketball interview help

Discussion in 'Physical education' started by rushbylaura, Jan 23, 2011.

  1. I have to teach basketball in an interview, 20 mins to a yr 8 mixed ability class. There are 10 basketballs, cones and bibs available.
Any ideas on what i could do?
Im not the best basketballer so please keep it simple!

This won't be much help but, in my opinion, if they're asking you to do a basketball lesson then they want a basketball specialist but I might be wrong
One of my first jobs was master i / c rugby and fitness.
3 people called for interview and we had to teach a lesson of our choice.
1st person did a rugby lesson
I did a rugby fitness lesson
    3rd bod did Educational Gymnastics!!!
Guess who didn't get the job

Check out the following for a few ideas

  4. Depending on total numbers, if you can get 1 ball per pair try focusing on stops/pivots. 1-2 stop, 2 foot stop, triple threat position, front and back pivots. Easily transferable ideas if they are familiar with netball, easy to progress and very easy to differentiate. Lots of resources, but I recommend targeting US/CDA sites. I have included a link to one of my uni profs in Canada which has a selection of 4 lesson unit plans, just have to dig around a bit.
