When ***** went to the wedding (I can't remember the author and the book is at school)

We're doing our Royal Wedding activities this week so the children will know what's happening when they see it on TV. We've made and iced cakes, dessigned wedding dresses and cakes. made hats and crowns. learnt about weddings in different cultures and different ways of getting married.
The culmination of all this is tomorrow when we act out the event, all the guests from the Beckhams to the Sultan of Brunei (taken from the actual guest list) will be announced as they walk down the aisle in our hall. Our Archbishop of Canterbury will perform a short marriage ceremony, rings will be exchanged and the register signed 'William' and 'Kate'. The children completed their own wedding invitations to their parents, the Head, Chair of Governors and Yr 1 and 2 classes who will be waving the flags they have made.

We are holding a Royal Wedding part tomorrow afternoon. We are going to have a carousel of activities in the morning where each year group does 4

    making tablecloths
decorating a wedding cake ( areal one)
listening to different pieces of wedding music
looking at the Royal wedding tree (know your Royals)
Making order of events leaflets for the visitors (ICT room)
    Making place mats
Mt reception class has made 150 favours (patterned square paper made into cones, counted assortment of sweets 10 in each and glued flap down) we had a real production team going! We have also made the table decorations from flowers and greenery from our school garden.
The vicar came in to tell us all about the wedding ceremony
Everyone is bringing their special clothes to wear in the afternoon
The children have made crown and tiaras and there will be a competition to judge them in the afternoon
The visitors will arrive in the afternoon and the families will do a Royal Treasure hunt on our school field
We have had a Guess the bride board where parents and staff have put their photos they are all numbered for a competition.
we will finish off with our headteacher making a toast (all have lemonade and piece of cake)
    Fingers crossed for fine weather

  8. Fantastic ideas, we are having a party at the end of the week where we all meet to have dinner and play games, we are also going to make crowns and maybe flags beforehand. The link for books on weddings is great will get one and use it as an introduction. I am looking for songs that we can sing (nursery age) so far have come up with 'London Bridge' and 'The Grand Old Duke of York' any other ideas?

    Thanks,
