Bangkok explosion

Discussion in 'Teaching abroad' started by hoblos, Feb 14, 2012.

  1. Am I right in saying that a man blew his legs off when attempting to plant a bomb outside St. Andrews International School in Bangkok?

Apparently, when arrested by the police, he was told that he doesn't have a leg to stand on.
  3. also heard that after the blast police were seen to be looking everywhere for him.
  4. Isn't it a dvd?

Iranian bombers make those chaps in the movie "Four Lions" look good.

According to the Bangkok Post, never the best news source it must be said:
"The foriegner threw a bomb at a taxi driver who refused to accept his fare, the taxi driver was one of the injured. When police arrived he three a second bomb at them which rebounded off a tree and blew his legs off"
What we in Belfast in the '80s used to call an own goal.
Although it was outside a school it wasn't St Andrews. They are all on half term anyway.

An initial explosion went off inside a rented house - the bomber emerged covered in blood - he threw a grenade at a taxi who refused to pick him up and then threw a grenade at police officers trying to arrest him. It blew off one leg and he had the other one amputated in hospital later. One other individual arrested at the airport trying to leave for KL. Hunt for the third individual is still on-going.
