Background music in the classroom?

Discussion in 'Social sciences' started by griffin63, Dec 6, 2011.

  1. What do you think of using background music in the classroom? Have you tried it and was it successful or not?
I have some guidelines on the underlying psychology of using background music, as well as how to choose the music, here: http://db.tt/qk12XWBU

I've had mixed responses and found it really depends on how the students study beyond the classroom. Lots of them study at home to music and so seemed fine but others did find it a little distracting. I'll have a look at your link though and try and spend some time thinking of what to play.
