Australia topic - links

Discussion in 'Primary' started by footyteacher, Feb 19, 2007.

  1. I'm planning a cross-curricular topic on Australia (seems like a good time, with them losing at cricket, and all) and I've been trawling the net for links, so, if these are any use to anyone ...

?Australia for Kids?. An American primary school?s online site about Australia. Very simple and a good introduction. If you use it, make sure kids know that it?s an American site.

  3. Forgot to say - if anyone's got anything to add, that'd be great.

  4. Wow that's brill, thanks for that!
Been planning (in my head!) an Australia topic since I went last summer but had already invested lots of time, effort and resources in my Africa topic so Australia will have to wait...but this'll give it a great head start!

  5. My pleasure.

  6. If you have Espresso at school there is a section on Australia which has some really good facts and figures and some amazing photos

  7. Found it.
    Thanks.

  8. Hi,
I'm a PGCE student and about to start my last placement and the topic we are doing is Australia! My teacher has just given me this to do, and i've got no idea where to start and wondered if there was any chance i could have a look at someones medium term plans or overview of what they did for an Australia topic to give me some ideas!

Thank you so much for your time,

  9. Hey guys, feel free to ask me about living in Australia!

  10. He, this thread is two years old

  11. Thank you so much. I've never seen some of these websites before and they are great!
Australia is a really good topic to have in schools. Lots to learn about the environment, wildlife, history etc but one of the best things I enjoy about the summer term teaching year 3 and Australia is cricket! They always end up loving cricket by July.
IMHO, you can teach anything and everything through cricket. Etiquette, citizenship, isues surrounding racism, Geography, History, Art. Non chron reports, etc etc etc... forgot to mention maths!
look on the cricket australia website!
