Our SALT has recommended Bucket Time on care plans for many of our ASD children who have attention & listening difficulties... I have one child (going into yr 2) who has according to mum, has done Bucket Time through private speech therapy which he had been having outside of school for over a year, she feels this is too basic for him.
Does anyone have any alternative recommendations to Bucket Time as an attention developing intervention?

Is he able to engage in all 4 stages? How long is his attention span at the moment?

Mum says that he had completed all 4 stages, but this would have been at home, not in a group at school. His attention varies, often with written activities it will be just a few minute sat most, but he will read a book cover to cover without stopping. he can join some whole class/ group work, for example he goes to a phonics group for approx. 10-15 mins daily which he participates in fairly well.

Ok, then he seems to be quite high (or at least compared to mine).
Have you spoken to SALT? Do they have any other suggestions?
