ATOS - anyone else had problems with them?

  1. I have found my dealings with ATOS in 2 different LEAs to be most unhelpful.
    The pre-employment questionnaire does not make enough allowances for answers to vary from the prescribed answer options meaning you have to answer yes or no. For example 1 question asks if you suffer from or have ever suffered from migraines. I had to answer 'yes' despite not having had 1 for over 20 years. Needless to say this meant I had to have a pre-employment discussion with an ATOS person. When asked to descibe my last migraine I had to say I couldn't remember much about it. The ATOS person then asked why I'd answered yes so he clearly did not have a copy of the questions from the online questionnaire in front of him otherwise he would have realised that was the only option I had in order to answer honestly.
    The ATOS people I have spoken to do not appear to have a good level of knowledge and understanding of medical conditions. One even tried to override medical advice I'd received frorm my GP.
    Too many ATOS appointments are done over the phone. You can say anything over the phone but some illnesses and medical conditions require face to face discussions e.g. depression.
    What experiences have other people had that you are willing to share please?

  3. ATOS is the organisation LEAs buy into for Occupational Health - previously in-house and much better
