Hi Newbykat and others, For what it is worth I have been attending ATM Conferences for many years and would not hesitate in recommending them. It is an unusual and satisfying feeling to be part of a community of mathematics educators and liberating to discuss your passion over a pint without everybody considering you to be a nutter. The range of speakers is huge and there is always something interesting to do. Whilst you do have to give up some of your own time there is no better form of inset available and it is inexpensive compared to the cost of a "professional course" plus cover. I have usually managed to get my school to cough up! I know that opinions differ and this is mine! I hope this helps you Newbykat.
