Discussion in 'Personal' started by mad.scientist, Jun 5, 2012.

  1. Looking for any SLE's that can give an AST advice on how to become an SLE...

Can you send me a message if you can help?

Hi, i'm an SLE. What would you like to know?

  4. Me too. I'm thinking of applying in September.
I've read the stuff on NCSL site but I'd like to know what your role entails, subject area, previous experience, and any tips for application? I've previously worked for LA as a lead ICT teacher and am on SMT.

  5. This has to be a record post for acronyms! 4 in last post and 2 in the OP!

  7. Doh! I knew I was wrong as I posted! Am old and was struggling to remember the word I needed, Then I had a sneezing
fit and the window of posting opportunity passed. It's a really good job I'm no longer teaching!

    So what's an SLE then.?

  9. SLE - specialist leader in education AST - advanced skills teacher.

You won't get any money for being an SLE - they are paid on the main scale. You need to apply through the national college and your head teacher must support you as they are going to have to give up your time for free to support other schools and teachers.
