Have a similar post in careers, but would like a different perspective, if possible?
I have worked in my school for 7 years in the south east, and
made the decision to move on at the end of this academic year.
    As a
recently qualified ICT AST, I held a co-ordinator's role (Not HoD, more
ICTAC) and a very brief stint in charge of KS3 before that.
In the long term I would like to be an assistant head though I am aware I lack experience in managing teams.Ideally
I would like to move on sideways to another AST role as I have been
school-based and find the outreach work of potential interest.
    Does anyone know
what the jobs demand would be in the south east, including possibly in
and around London? Should I find another AST role or also consider a HoD job
to pave the way to senior management one day?
Thanks in advance for any contributions.
  2. Why don't you contact the AST coordinator in your lea and maybe som surrounding ones?

A possibility though at the moment I am a school-based AST.
Would I require HoD (or equivalent) experience to prepare in the future for senior management?
  4. I know of head teachers who were never heads of faculty.

Presumably they did have pastoral experience instead?
