Assignment - Assessment or Attainment?

Discussion in 'Assessment' started by lkdunn, Apr 2, 2012.

  1. Hi, Im a GTP trainee, currently attempting an assignment surrounding the following title -
    Too
much attention has been paid to using assessment to compare school
performance and not enough to using it to increase pupils' attainment.
How valid is this statement in 2011/2012 within your subject
    specialism?
My subject specialism is PE, but I would like to know other views also?
Before anyone starts having a go at me for asking people to do the assignment for me - I'm not!
    I
DO have my own views, and I HAVE researched, I am wading through books
and journals as I type, but as a trainee - I feel I lack some of the
experience necessary to make a sound judgement, and I am simply asking
for others, experienced, opinion on this statement?
    Many thanks

    Worth Reading: http://weaeducation.typepad.co.uk/files/blackbox-1.pdf
It was the forerunner to AFL by the Dept.

  4. on-going, objective level teacher assessment, say using APP is used for the benefit of increasing pupil progress, the problem is that teachers have found it takes ages as it's all paper based which is why we invested in an electronic way of recording al of our assessment through a web based system, Classroom Monitor. I run this accross school purely for then benefit my teachers and their pupils/parents
