Assessing science

Discussion in 'Primary' started by HC84, Aug 15, 2011.

  1. Hello all
Can anyone recommend a good scheme for assessing science? Staff at our school have rejected both the NSI optional SATs papers and the Rising Stars materials for science. We are looking for something to assess the children at the end of the year, rather than at the end of each unit of work.
    Many thanks

Does it have to be the end of the year? I find that in KS2 tests might be more user friendly, but when you have a class of year 1s who don't really understand test situations and you have to read every flippin question it quickly becomes too onerous to bother with. APP or other formats such as the ones shared here already are far more workable IMO. I agree that the NSI tests are awful. Full of misconceptions and very old fashioned. Poo.
