  1. Anyone ever done an assembly on the rainforest before? I have a Year 2 class and we have a twenty minute assembly to do. Any ideas?
  2. I have a rainforest asembly, with a little eco play and song, that I did with a year 4 class. I would be happy to email it to you - it might be a bot much for year 2 but you could adapt it.

  3. If you could get hold of the Great Kapok Tree, would be a lovely story to act out.
  4. Hello
We've got quite a few free Rainforest related resources that might help with your assembly. Check them out at the link below:
    Rainforest resources
    Good luck with the assembly
  5. Have done this song before. It's a bit cheesy

Layers in the Rainforest There are layers in the rainforest, yes indeed, yes indeed
There are layers in the rainforest, yes indeed, yes indeed
    Emergent, canopy and the understory
There are layers in the rainforest, yes indeed, yes indeed

The emergent is home to birds and butterflies, butterflies
The emergent's home to birds and butterflies, butterflies
The trees are so high that they almost touch the sky.
The emergent is home to bird and butterflies, butterflies

The canopy is like a big umbrella, big umbrella
The canopy is like a big umbrella, Big umbrella
Monkeys, sloths orangutans, eat all the fruit they can
The canopy is like a big umbrella, big umbrella

The understory is home to many snakes, many snakes
The understory is home to many snakes, many snakes
They eat cats and bats and rats, And they like the gnats for snacks
The understory's home to many snakes, Many snakes

The forest floor is dim, dark and wet, dark and wet
The forest floor is dim, dark and wet, dark and wet
Oh, the ants go marching by, As they watch the birds up high.
The forest floor is dim, dark and wet, dark and wet </font>
  6. Love the song, thanks.

I've ordered the KAPOK TREE, so maybe that will make a great play. I will take a closer look! Any other ideas/scripts?
  7. anyone got any ideas for a assembly on 'Everybody counts'? pshe theme. Not class assembly but a assembly i have to give????
  8. Hi i have just seen you note about an assembly on the rainforest you would be willing to share. I am going to be trialling a unit of work on the rainforest when we go back and would like to finish with an assembly. If you wouldn't mind sending it to me i would be extremely grateful. Thanks in anticipation! tracy.mallins@homecall.co.uk

I used the Great Kapok Tree in mine. The children dressed as the animals and we basically acted out the script. It was very effective.
  10. Hi

I'm doing an assembly on the rainforest with my yr 3's. I have written something but would love to see yours, especially the eco song.

We've done two songs from The Emerald Crown (The emerald crown and It takes a hundred years) as part of our Rainforest topic this term. My yr2/3 class really like them.

Just as an idea, a bit obvious I know, perhaps you could use a short video from youtube with images of the rainforest to help them visualise. This could be quite short (with your timeframe).
Also, failing this, perhaps you could have a PowerPoint on automatic click through with lots of pretty images of different rainforest scenes (wildlife, trees etc.).
I have uploaded some of the resources I have, to do with the rainforest, here, if you would like them:
While, this website is also full of nice ideas:
There are nice videos here too (not sure if there is one for rainforest - may be worth the search):

    Hope helpful,

    Many regards,

p.s. this website is also very useful if looking for Geography lessons rather than assemblies:
  13. Hi, it would be wonderful if you would be able to also email me the assembly please!

  14. Hi i know you posted this message quite a while ago but if you still have the assembly that you did i would really appreciate a copy of it! My email is rroseby@stanburnjunior.harrow.sch.uk.

On http://emmarogers.org.uk/rainforests-y3-information-unit/ there is a unit for Y3 about the rainforest which could easily be adapted for Y2s. There is also a link to a great animation which would be a good backdrop to your assembly if you have projector etc. Also some rainforest sound effects.
