Hello. I'm currently a middle leader considering applying to become a senior leader in my school and feeling a bit daunted by the step up.

Can anyone give any words of advice for writing the personal statement, interview, or in tray exercise please?

    Much appreciated

    Each school does it differently.
A personal statement needs to show how your skills/values/experience match their needs, making you invaluable to them.

The interview will be explained to you either just before or on the day and they'll tell you what to do. It will always be around prioritising, communicating with staff/parents etc.

Depends on exact role but consider:

    Whole School Data
    Strongest Subjects
    Weakest Subjects

Know your own data and school well - in case asked about it - and theirs.

Do some fishbowl activities - these are really hard to do, but you could do as part of an aspiring SLT group.
