Does anyone else remember a short story by Isaac Asimov called The Fun They Had? I remember reading it with a Y5 class back in the eighties. Oh how we laughed at the idea of children not going to school but doing their lessons on their own on a computer at home!

There is an Edward Blishen short story called Inside where a group are cooped up in a house. The idea is that some are aliens who can adopt a human appearance and the way to tell if they are not human is the way they react to the monotony of confinement.

Woke in the middle of the night, thinking Outside not inside.

There is another Asimov story, about a future society where everyone had teleporters built into their front door. As a result, nobody ever went outside. Anyone remember what that one is called?

Maybe "It's Such a Beautiful Day"?

E M Forster's The Machine Stops covers very similar ground.
