AS level english literature taster session ideas

Discussion in 'English' started by splutter, Jun 18, 2012.

  1. I've done a nice taster lesson with Stevie Smith's 'Not Waving but Drowning'. Start them off reading it in groups and get them to decide how many voices are in it and perform it for the whole class accordingly. This can lead to some discussion about different interpretations, stylstic analysis, voice and character, etc. And I think it's a good, accessible poem with some 'deep' sixth form ideas in that's just right for a half hour session.
