It would appear that I am going to be teaching AS French to a Swiss-German girl from January.
It has been many years since I last taught A level (1997!!), but I am up for it!
I have read the Spec (Edexcel) and am now thinking about resources:
    • which book(s)/other resources do the rest of you use?
    • are there any you would recommend/advise me to avoid?

Cool! Was she educated in Switzerland? If so, she'll probably know a good deal of grammar already.
We use AQA Nelson Thornes, with the attached kerboodle website. I really like it. Don't know about edexcel but if you PM me your email with the topics they do, there might be some overlap and I could send you my resources.
I've used Elan as well, it's quite good too, although I prefer AQA because of the access to kerboodle.

heinemann's AS Level French is EXCELLENT! It covers all 4 AS GTAs and there is an A2 book which colleagues tell me is similarly good!

    Right, so...
    • I started teaching her the week before Christmas - she is good.
    • I have found out that her final grade for French from her school in Switzerland was 5/6.
    • She achieved 56/70 on a U2 paper last week.
    • We have decided that she will do A2 as well as AS in June - she has chosen Amélie as her specialist topic for U4.
Can anyone point me in the direction of really good resources for this film, please?
Is the linguascope book worth buying?
    Thanks my fellow MFLers
