Art Week - An artist I can relate to maths with Year 1!

  2. Gustav Klimt has some lovely work that has lots of shapes in. I have used his work with Reception and Year one before producing great results. We drew triangles inside triangles all different sizes using black markers, oil pastels and painted with white acrylic (following the line with the paintbrush). Also drew squares inside squares and circles. Once finished with oil pastels and blocking in shapes with colour we did a wash of ink over the top (yellow) which completes it. Then I think we added some gold paint to chosen areas to lift it (Klimt liked to use gold). Possibly frame in gold! Hope this gives you some ideas.
