Art Teachers in EBD Schools

Discussion in 'Art and design' started by pandabear1, Nov 12, 2010.

  1. Hi there, just a quick message to see if any other art teachers who teach/subject lead art in EBD schools in the north west area would be interested in getting in contact to share ideas, discuss GCSE specifications, project ideas etc...
I'm always trying to make contacts with other art teachers in EBD as I'm also the subject leader in this type of school. I work in a school in the north west and like most EBD schools I'm the only art teacher and often feel the lack of other art professionals often leaves you feeling somewhat isolated.
Anyway, if you'd like to swap contact details let me know. I'd be interested in seeing how others run their department. We recently had ofsted in and were graded good with outstanding features. An interested to see what others have experienced.
    Many thanks

  3. hello SEBD specialis teachers in art and design. Looks like SEBD art teachers need to be part of a network more than anyone. I suggest that you check out the NSEAD website.... http://www.nsead.org/networks/index.aspx they are collaborating all the art, craft and design teachers and educators networks around the UK. If anyone is in the Northeast i highly recommend NEATEN. However it may be a case of you helping or organising your own network.

  5. Hi, I'm also an art coordinator in an EBD school.Unfortunately we are right down South so nowhere near enough to set up a group :( As a new coordinator and a definate non specialist I would really like to get in touch with other more experienced art coordinators. I am trying to write a LTP and MTPs for KS3 boys and not really sure where to start! Any advice would be great. :)

  6. Hi, sorry, only just saw your message. What a coincidence,my school is just outside of Chichester. It would be great to make a link, are you primary or secondary? How exciting!

  7. Hi

I'm also an arts teacher at a EBD school in Wokingham and would really like to speak to other teachers in the same field?

I don't really post on forums but was just browsing and saw this. Are people still reading this regularly?

Would be nice to share ideas and discuss how we can help and develop each other skills.

    Regards

    Tahir

  8. are any of you on Facebook? if so check out this network of art teachers from across the UK, its a place for sharing ideas and communicating with other art teachers.. www.facebook.com/.../NSEADOnline

  9. Oh, I haven't checked this for a while and its good to see other people are around who areworking in the same field. I am just starting a KS3 project using Beaulieu Motor Museum as a starting point... thinking about sketching cars, maybe desgining own bond type cars with gadgets... any good ideas to get KS3 boys motivated? I would like to maybe make the cars but not sure how??

    Hello.

I also teach art in an EBD school in the North West. Will be restarting the AQA GCSE Art and Design this September. Would be interested to hear which course you deliver to your students.

    Thanks.

  11. I am starting a post in an EBD school In September, this is also my first teaching job so any advice would be appreciated

  12. Hi there, I originally posted this and oops!! totally forgot about it. I still work in the school as an art teacher/subject leader and still facing the same dilemmas of being the only art specialist in the school and constantly trying to come up with ideas to suit the needs of our pupils. We run the AQA GCSE qualification however, I feel with the caliber of students it is proving to be more difficult every year which we run the course. What qualifications do other people run?? Anyone run entry level, is it successful??

Cheers and sorry for my late input. VERY late input!!
