"Around 2.5 million people in Great Britain - 9% of drinkers - consume more than the new weekly recommended limit for alcohol in a single day, latest figures from the Office for National Statistics show."

Do you think the 14 units per week max is a realistic limit on alcohol to aim for?
    • Single shot of spirits (25ml): 1 unit
    • Standard (175ml) glass of wine: 2.1 units
    • Large (250ml) glass of wine: 3 units
    • Pint of 4%-strength beer: 2.3 units
    • Pint of 5%-strength beer: 2.8 units
    • Pint of strong cider (8%): 4.5 unit

    No, I am not.
It's a rare week where I drink at all.

Depends on how bad the week has been......

Most of the time I am well under because I hardly drink at all.

Sometimes I exceed the limit within a couple of days
    Sometimes in one night

Only 9% drink above the recommended limit? Yikes!

MrSK and I drink responsibly (particularly a few glasses a wine with dinner and after) but do go above the limit weekly....we're both pretty healthy and it's our only vice....

It's a very realistic target. I can reach it within two nights.

Not me. I've had one glass of champagne in the last 5 years so I'm well under :)

    That's hopeless @RedQuilt
You've missed the target by miles!
    Must try harder.

That 9% are getting through their weekly allowance in a day. Possibly every day of the week.

So, is a bottle a night too much? Or should we limit the toddler's intake?

I really am hopeless at drinking . For some reason, after my 40th birthday, even a little bit of alcohol started making me feel horrible. I can't abide the stuff now.

You can have my share if you like ;)

Maybe they regard it as an aspirational target.

No, 9% reach their weekly limit in just one day.

Perhaps one day in every month I'll exceed the weekly limit in one go, but only just. But most of the time I don't drink anything, so I have most weeks where I am well under the limit.

Oops! I misread - usually reach the weekly limit by day 3 or day 4....the toddler, though, is a milkoholic.....

Hell no. I could get squiffy on a wine gum.

You can get a lot of wine gums for the price of a bottle of wine.......
