Are tip-offs likely to be real?

    Evening all,

Our school is currently in a panic that we will be inspected next week, two weeks short of two years since our last. This 'tip-off' has apparently come via an LA bod who is an inspector who has advised our SLT to make sure they are in school next Thursday and Friday.

How likely is it that they have been given a tip-off here and if they have, surely that's not playing fair?

"apparently" came from an LA bod? So there might have been no tip-off about anything? Or do you definitely know someone has tipped off the school but it might have been someone else?

Given the previous investigations etc by Ofsted into alleged tip-offs it seems unlikely that any inspector would take the risk, but I can't see how anyone here could say how likely it was that your particular school has been tipped off by your LA.

You''l find out in the next 3 days!

You should do the professional thing and report this as soon as possible. Presumably one of your SLT will have the answer. Or "an" answer...

Although that will of course probably be the end of your career, whether the allegation is false or not...

There are plenty of people stupid enough to do this.

As they say you'll find out-think people on here would be interested to know too.

If you see a group of people like this hanging around the vicinity of your school....then you have an Ofsted inspection coming up..... image.jpeg

Suppose that would get rid of them!

SLTs get very jumpy and see OFSTED round the corner on a regular basis, usually turns out to be a little boy shouting wolf.

'TIp Offs' are a symptom of fear and a huge desire to take control.

If you get a 'tip off' stay calm...watch everyone else panic again and again and again.

Trouble is, if you shout wolf often enough, one of the times you shout it, they will turn up.

It would be interesting to see what the outcome of this was...
