I am currently coming to the end of my PGCE (FE) and I have nothing lined up
for September as yet. This worries me!! I feel like there is nothing out there
for drama teacher at the moment especially those that are new to teaching. I
was hanging on to the fact that as an NQT I would be cheaper to employ so there
would be more out there but that does not seem to be the case. The majority of
Drama posts out there at the moment appear to be subject leader/head of
department roles. How long will it be this way?

Is there any websites specific to teacher of drama jobs?

  2. Can you not apply for English positions? Do you have a second subject you could possibly look for?

What county are you in? are you willing to move?

  4. Essentially subject leader/ heads of department posts come out first and then other posts afterwards as these fill. After half term those of us in post can't resign for a September start. The TES is the main source of all jobs, although LEA websites can be a good place to look. Most trainees don't have jobs at this point, but bear in mind that you may not be able to be picky and look at short term, maternity contracts etc. as well.

There are fewer than in previous years- Drama has suffered from the E-Bacc strait jacket of "proper" subjects. Most departments are now smaller and/or adjuncts of the English Department- try targeting Performing Arts specialist schools as may be more opportunities there-however the job market is very local so does depend where in the country you are looking.

  6. I am in England and willing to move yes [IMG]
I have been looking at everything such as part time ect as I know I can not be picky. This being said my second subject is English but I really don't want to teach it!
