Arctic/Antartic story - Pie Corbett

Discussion in 'Primary' started by carlajw, Dec 31, 2011.

  1. Hi
I was wondering if anyone has used any stories with the theme of Arctic/Antartic with their Year 1 class which they would be willing to share? Our school teaches Literacy using the Pie Corbett 'storytelling' approach so they do need to be quite short stories and preferably repetitive so that the children can learn them. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

Pie Corbett recommends you rewrite the story yourself so if you have a story in mind that might be an option.
    Penguin Small
The Polar Bear and the Snow Cloud
    Polar Bear Polar Bear
  3. Lost and Found by Olvier Jeffers worked well when I did an Antarctic topic with yr2. There is another book by Jeffers along the same theme but can't quite remember the title - may have been Up and Down???
  4. We have just done this topic in year 2 and used stories by Oliver Jeffers, the children loved them. The penguin is in two of them, up and down and lost and found, but he does pop up in most of his other books as well. Theres also a lovely 30minute animation of lost and found.
