AQA resitting Mod 3 and 5?

I'm tutoring a pupil who has just finished his A-levels this time, but he needed a C in GCSE Maths to get on to his Uni course. He's done the AQA course that's coming to an end (Modular B, spec 4307, last exam Nov 2011) and resat Module 5 this June, missing a C by 7 UMS marks. His first mod 3 mark was also 7 UMS marks off a C.
Is it possible to resit module 3 and/or 5 in November? I'm not sure if he would only be allowed to resit Module 5 as it's a terminal module.

Obviously the school are in discussions with the Uni to accept him on a D, but if a retake were the only option, it would be useful to know if he could just resit Mod 3, and if not, if he could resit mod 3 and mod 5.

    Thanks for any advice.
  2. Module 5 must be taken again as it is the terminal module.
Module 3 is optional. In our experience it is unusual for a student to reach C grade overall without a C in both Modules 1 and 3.

Cheers, thought that might be the case.

His spacial awareness really hindered him in mod 5 as he found all the transformations and simple perimeter questions tough to master. He finds methods like Pythagoras and quite complex reasoning easy, and his mental arithmetic is incredible. He really should have resat both this year, but hindsight is a wonderful thing.

    Thanks for your help :)
