I am applying for a post in a church of England school and currently writing my personal statement. In the 'essential' criteria it says that candidates must be supportive of the school's Christian ethos and links with the Anglican church.
I do have Christian beliefs and links with a Family church, however I wouldn't say I was a practicing Christian.

My main question is how do I put this across in my personal statement??

    Very briefly, is the answer!

Just say something like this: I am keen to work in a school where Christian beliefs are upheld, asI am myself a Christian, although not a regular churchgoer.

The same applies for Catholic schools. You don't need to be a Bible basher, they just want to know that you're going to follow the school's ethos and practices and not rock the boat. There are a couple of Muslim teachers in the Catholic schools hereabouts, and nobody bats an eyelid, because they're good teachers and they do things in accordance with school procedure.

    There you are!

I had Muslim and Hindu and Jewish and Buddhist and Nothing-Much teachers (and pupils) in my CofE school too.

    Best wishes
