Could anyone provide any advice with regards to job applications to teach a different subject.

I am a trained Business Education teacher with 15 years experience but would like to teach history. My degree is in history.

Does anyone know if this is a possibility and how I would approach this.

I also trained as a business teacher but now teach maths. My degree was maths related which made it easier - and maths is a shortage subject, so every school I've worked in jumped at my offer to teach maths.

I started in ks3 then did a subject knowledge enhancement course before teaching gcse maths.

The easiest way to do it I think would be to ask for some ks3 teaching and work your way in that way. History is much more competitive than maths which could be a disadvantage - but with a degree in history you have the background needed.
