Any other reasonable duties clause

Discussion in 'Further Education' started by aristotle44, Jul 16, 2012.

  1. In college lecturer contracts ,as in many other jobs nowadays, there is the 'and any other reasonable duties' clause. Is it reasonable for colleges to use this clause to get college lecturers on full contact hours and who use their DDs for prep time to be course leaders with no remission or incentive to do the work, other than its 'in
your job spec'. Asking where it specifically refers to course leader gets the reply 'under any other reasonable duty'.

  3. No this is not at all reasonable, the SMt in colleges will get away with whatever they can. Get your union rep on it.

Your employer (the College) has a legal 'duty of care' to every employee. If you feel over-loaded say so (in writing) and file a copy with your Union Rep.
The SMT are scratching around to make savings and do so at the sharp end, if you let them, they reign supreme and continue their wayward ways.
