Anglo-Saxons

Discussion in 'History' started by josephine37, May 7, 2011.

  1. About to teach a topic on the Anglo-Saxons to a mixed Year 3/4 class. Best ways to start it off? Thanks, (Have already done mind-map kind of activity to find out what they want to know).

  2. I have done this with a very low ability Y7 class, so some this may or may not be helpful. I showed them images from the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle and also illuminated manuscripts and got them to design their own chronicle entry. We based this on work we did learning about how the Anglo-Saxons travelled to Britain and the kids came up with simplistic things, more like diary entries but with art surrounding the writing.
    Best of luck
