And the award for the best A Level Geography Textbook goes to...

  1. .......(post your idea here)

I'm teaching advanced level Geography at a private school on the continent, and am looking for advice on what you think would be the best A Level textbook to use with them. They will not sit any A Level exam, but will sit the state exam, which is pretty similar to A Level. A good range of topics would be required, hopefully with more of an emphasis on European/World geography.

    Ideas? Thanks in advance.

  3. Hi
The RGS-IBG website, Geography in the News, www.geographyinthenews.rgs.org has a range of resources for A level, including case studies and articles that are created from recent and topical news stories, so often making them more up to date than textbooks. The articles also have curriculum links to the exam specifications as well as the IB syllabus. The Monthly News Round up section has overviews of interesting and relevant news stories from the previous month with curriculum links and guidance notes.
The site has a members' area (you need to be a Schools Member of the RGS-IBG to have full access) along with areas that are freely accessible to all. The Ask the Expert section is one of these and contains a series of Q&As with experts on their specialisms.
Many of the older articles as freely accessible so have a look through to see if there is anything you could use, and if you were interested in your school becoming a Schools Member I can send you more information - we do have many international schools who have joined.

  4. This one - http://bit.ly/r17rPU - is for the Cambridge International A Level. Worth requesting an e-copy?
