    The article is brilliant. The Late, great Prof Ted Wragg would have had a field day with this.

    'Outstanding'= you've ticked the right boxes.

    Often to the detriment of your health, well-being, teaching, relationships, family, sanity.........

    And now you have to keep that up. Which brings more scrutiny, pressure and stress. It's little wonder why teachers are sick to death of the word.

    Indeed... it's a management word now... meaningless to anyone outside the upper echelons where it measure performance more than describes any realistic feature of chalkface education.

    Oh no we are going to have to use the word 'awesome' another American import into our educational system - could be the next OFSTED grading.

    You're not one of these foreign-hating UKIPers, are you? We don't like those on here!

    Then again, I might not. We'll just have to see, won't we?
    Is that a Toc H lamp you have as your avatar?

    If you are old enough to know what a Toc H lamp is, you'll know otherwise
    And to pre-empt the obvious insult/joke you will also note that it isn't actually lit

    Reluctantly, I have to 'like' your post as it did make me sort of snigger.

    This woman (bottom of the article) is giving advice on how to make your school outstanding. I am not going to use any dirty words but I would urge you not to take her FASHION/HAIR/COSMETICS advice. Sorry to be a dog (female) about it but I just couldn't help myself.

    OFSTED again showed a profound ignorance of the language. Outstanding is not synonymous with excellent.

    Outstanding = egregious

    They both depend upon context. An egregious error. That's one example. You might easily describe an X Factor performance as outstandingly bad/banal/derivative.

    Bloody OFSTED.
