Alcohol at Christmas!

Obviously as Christmas draws near it becomes time to stock up the liquor cabinet and prepare for the annual sozzling!

So what tipple makes your seasonal merriment go with a bang? What wee dram makes the family gathering bearable? What drives Uncle Tim to wake up slooshed beneath the tree on the morning of the 25th?

For me... I associate Port with Christmas, Sherry... and a drink called Amarula.

Home made Sloe Gin as well... not had that for a few years though.

I rely on the generosity of friends for my xmas alcohol and drink whatever I'm given (however dubious the source or how sticky the contents.)
I do like port and good whisky (or whiskey) but rarely acquire any

Disaranno! That'll be the tipple of this year!

No. I prefer to do the opposite. I get sloshed all year round and as soon as December begins, so does my sobriety . . . and it peaks on Hogmany, then gently fades into perpetual drunkenness mid January.

Another designated driver/non-drinker! So my preferred drink is orange & lemonade or fruit juice.

Baileys. Always Baileys. Unless I'm driving, but we take it in turns so I'll get some drinking in somewhere.

Sadly I can't drink any amount of alcohol at all without getting really ill (it's medical rather than being a total lightweight) so it's OJ and Lemonade for me too.

The usual Prosecco, maybe with a spot of Chambord if I can find it.

I stick to my Chardonnay, everything in moderation!. Mind you I make a mean mullled wine for the others, but II cannot partake, as it has Cointreau in it. I got my cinnamon sticks in though.

Bought some Chambord recently from Waitrose. Do you have a store near to you?

Last year I bought a bottle of something from Lidl because I loved the bottle and label- very ' German Christmas village scene'. Turned out to be mulled wine - I think! - and was delicious.

By the timeI went back for more they'd run out.

This year I'm taking no chances so have 6 bottles stashed away already.
