Advice on competency procedures

  1. I was just informed by the head that any department that doesn't get their targets this year will face competency procedure.

    Of course,it doesn't help that until last week we our targets were FFTD and now it's 3 levels progress.
     
  2. As a HoD, surely we have enough to do: SOW, monitoring resources, tracking and data and manahing assessments, let alone monitoring and supporting/developing staff, who are by no means upto the job if they are on competency surely!
    If we do put support in place, then if they do improve then thats good, but if they dont we still have to show evidence that we have supported them and then what .. more evidence?
     
  3. It's the SLT that need to leading the competency proceedings as they are the ones that are ultimately responsible. They need evidence of support you have offered but that is where your role stops.
