I am currently tutoring a Y3 boy who is operating slightly below ARE in English and maths but does not appear to have any major difficulties. I have found, though, that when reading he has a tendency to miss out or add letters - usually the 2nd consonant or 2nd to last phoneme (single letter). Does anyone have any tried and tested techniques that I could use with him - I have tutored dyslexics in the past and have worked with phoneme frames etc but am not sure that I need to go that basic with him.
