Acting head of dept - maternity pay

Discussion in 'Pay and conditions' started by ellie16w, Nov 16, 2011.

  1. Hi all,
i'm in a slightly unusual position in that my head of department had gone off on maternity leave and I am taking over as acting head of department. However, I am also pregnant and will be going on maternity leave in 3 months. I'm just wondering how my maternity pay should be worked out, will it be based on my normal teacher's pay or on my increased pay during the time I am head of department? I have asked my school and not had a definite answer, but wondered if anyone has been in a similar situation or can shed light on how maternity pay is worked out in unusual circumstances such as this?
