This man is an excellent strategist.
How do you get the government, experts and the people to return to herd immunity.
Open the country early to create another spike.

he didn't even have to do that. just let it be known he broke lockdown and there were no repercussions.

    Thats right
Break lockdown himself so that the whole country would then follow his lead.
When the second spike comes the Nightingales are all ready built.
It is no wonder the scientists are getting so upset.
Yet again he has taken it upon himself to ride rough shod over their advice.
No wonder Boris relies upon him

    No silly conspiracy theories please

The Cummings myth is just that - he's still in a job because our PM is so hopeless he needs someone to tell him what to do at all times.

We've already lost too many people.

If you think about it herd immunity will happen if you have a high enough vaccine take up rate and success , but we also need to remember that we don't really know for sure if we have a vaccine that works !
So, if that's the case then what do we do?
No use screaming it's the governments' fault then I'm afraid.
The only other option will be to hide away forever.

We are where we are because they have muffed up every opportunity to do something positive.

We are opening up because our desperate leader needs a distraction.

I almost agree with Norsemaid - we can't wait for a vaccine and track and trace will never work so we're short on options.

See you on the other side.

    It’s not a conspiracy theory
    It’s Cummings current strategy
Don’t you remember those early graphs showing multiple peaks

As a result of attempting herd immunity more of the older generation of which I include myself will die due to Covid.

what benefits will that give to the government.
I can think of a few

A bit like the four Labour MPs who also broke the Lockdown rules. They seem to have got away with it and were not hounded by the media. I guess the reasonable thing is to give people the benefit of the doubt but of course this does not apply to Dominic Cummings. I cant think why that would be.

Well that first hand account doesn’t exactly inspire confidence in the test & trace system does it. I increasingly feel like I’m witnessing a car crash in slow motion watching the government’s responses to this pandemic.

    It all makes sense
Introduce things too early and thereby it is inevitable a second spike will occur.
Cummings did not realise how well his Stay Home message would work.
Therefore change it to a vague stay alert
