saying they had over 200 applicants......
Sounds like a lovely school then!
Sounds like we applied for the same job - received an email saying the same thing. At least they have made the effort to let unsuccessful candiates know.
Have got an interview on Monday though so keeping my fingers crossed for that!
My goodness 200 applicants! Where abouts in the UK are you?
I received a lovely letter 3 weeks after the deadline saying that I was not successful and that it might be a consolation to me that they found a suitable candidate.
I thought they were joking. How would that be of any consolation to anyone except the chosen candidate?
Not sure if it is better than them telling you that you weren't successful, but then neither was anyone else and they didn't appoint.
I think I would have felt better if they said that they did not found the right candidate, so I could potentially reapply. I am glad for whoever got the job, butthe fact they did was of no consolation to me
Yes, I agree that the weording was unfortunate.
Mind you, I was once shown a letter that someone had received that said Thank you for applying for our post. I am sure that you will be disappointed to learn that we have offered the post to an outstanding candidate from a school in London.
Just as bad!
And 200 is not the record by any means. I heard recently about a school advertising 2 posts, KS1 and KS2, who received over 500. FIVE hundred applications, many of them asking to be considered for both vacancies.
Best of luck
