So there is a thread about all the damage the Tory governments have done in the last ten years. There must be some good news surely?

Yes, but only for the rich. They had tax cuts, got away with all our money when we propped up their failed banks, and still have all their filthy dosh in the tax havens the Tories promised to close.

They have reduced greenhouse gas emissions by 25 per cent since 2010, generated record levels of solar and wind energy and committed to ending unabated coal by 2025 - and cut single use plastic bags by 86 per cent through the plastic bag charge. 3 for 1.

The good news would be seeing the back of them.

Basic rate taxpayers also pay less tax.

Fuel duty has not been increased for some time.

I'll have to take your word for that. It's never been an ambition of mine.

Not tried it. Or same sex sex. Each to their own I suppose.
I expect they will make it compulsory soon!

Some Right-leaning folk might consider the following FACTS to be good news:

The Kids Right Index measures elements such as life expectancy, health, education, protection and rights. When Theresa May became PM in 2016 the U.K. ranked 11th in the world, by the time she was ousted in 2018, the U.K. had fallen to 173rd.
    Let that sink in.

There has been a 60% rise in child poverty since 2015 alone, meaning almost 5 million kids in one of the largest economies the world has ever known are going hungry on a daily basis.

Contrary to what Boris Johnson told Andrew Marr last weekend, child poverty is rising sharply and on current government plans will hit nearly 40% by 2022, according to the Institute of Fiscal Studies.

This is in line with the U.N prediction from their damning 2018 report:

It’s one thing to be ignorant and vote Tory, it’s quite another to be informed yet still offer your support, especially if you’re working class.
    That makes you complicit.

Facebook? Seriously? That's a source for you?

You talk about being one of the largest economies, is that using gdp per capita? Although that's useful to compare countries of various sizes you might consider using HDI its an increasingly used measure of economic success because people are at the heart of it not production, but I guess you know this and that we rank very highly so you choose to ignore it.

I found it quite witty. It reminded me of a long sparring match I had with a TES poster who claimed with monotonous regularity that those who refused to support his views were part of what he called 'the gay lobby'. I tried unsuccessfully to reassure him that homosexuality would never become compulsory.
