25 minute Geography interview hurricanes

Discussion in 'Geography' started by Geography_teacher, May 1, 2012.

  1. Hi, I teach this with my Y7s. You could show them a clip / provide newspaper style cuttings / provide pictures and get them to go round the room and classify them into a venn diagram e.g. social, economic, environmental. My Y7s can do that. You can also show differentiation really well as lower ability can look at the images whilst higher ability could read a more lengthy article. You can even print on different colour paper to show how challenging they are and get them to find ones that challenge them.

I give my Yr9s an outline map of the southern US, first they label the states using an atlas, then they use laminated cards to annotate their map with the effects in different areas. They then highlight the effects to show social, economic and environmental effects.
